About the NCS Reston Branch

The National Capital Section's Reston Branch hosts regular monthly technical meetings at ASCE Headquarters in Reston at lunch time. Formerly a Committee of the Section, it was, in late October 2017,  anointed a Branch in recognition of its successful track record of serving members from the Reston area with well-attended PDH and networking opportunities. Several Branch Officer positions have opened up for our member volunteers to fill. Take advantage of these emerging leadership opportunities!

Kent Holland, a construction risk management consultant and construction lawyer, will talk about contractual risk management issues concerning COVID-19. He will share ideas on:

  • Drafting contracts;
  • Managing risk;
  • Sample wording for contracts; and
  • Lessons learned from recent construction litigation.

About the Presenter:

J. Kent Holland, J.D., is a construction lawyer located in Tysons Corner, Virginia, (formerly with Wickwire Gavin, P.C.). He represents design professionals, contractors, and project owners. He is also founder and president of a risk management consulting firm, ConstructionRisk, LLC, providing risk management consulting services to owners, design professionals, contractors, and attorneys on construction projects. This includes assistance with contract drafting, review, and negotiation; change order and claims analysis (preparation or defense); risk management advice concerning insurance coverage - including assistance with negotiating and drafting the terms and conditions of policies and endorsements; advice to insurance underwriters; and guidance to those procuring insurance.
