Centennial Tours of Civil Engineering Projects

The National Capital Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers celebrated its centennial (100-th) anniversary in 2016 by hosting tour of some of the most magnificent civil engineering wonders located in the National Capital region served by the Section.

We took a walking/driving tour of some well-known and maybe not-so-well known transportation-related structures that can be found in the Palisades area of northwest Washington, DC and Montgomery County, Maryland. Our stops included C&O Canal, B&O Railroad Truss Bridge and Dalecarlia Tunnel, and Capital Transit Streetcar Bridge. The tour ended with lunch at the Irish Inn at Glen Echo.
